The Ultimate Container for Keeping your Rolls of Filament Dry

These desiccant holders-known in my world as the “Ultimate Desiccant Container” or the “London Bridge Container” as they are specially designed to fit underneath a roll of filament. Originally, I created them to fit inside a storage box that I'd purchased, which perfectly held five rolls of filament.

Finding the Perfect Size

While searching for a storage container for my filament, I came across an 18-liter box at my local hardware store that holds five 1kg rolls of filament. My goal was to design a desiccant container that could maximise the amount of desiccant that could fit in this storage box underneath one of the rolls.

Monitoring Humidity Levels

To maintain optimal conditions, I incorporated a hygrometer into the system. This addition allows me to precisely monitor the dryness of my filament in the box. With the 18-liter container-paired with my first generation long tray I've been able to maintain a steady 10% humidity level, offering remarkable reliability.

An Efficient Indicator

A bonus feature of this setup is the visual humidity indicator on the front of the plastic box. When the humidity exceeds 10%, I know it's time to replace the desiccant. Thanks to their large capacity, these trays hold an impressive amount of desiccant.
